Naver TV Shutdown: How to Migrate Videos to Clip (Sept 30)

Naver TV, Korea's largest search portal's video service, closes at 3 PM on September 30, 2026. If you move your videos to Clip, your view counts and subscribers come with them. Migration requests and downloads stay open until September 30, 2027, but videos you have not moved or downloaded by then will be deleted (as of September 30).

This article covers what you should check now if you ran a Naver TV channel or have videos uploaded there. Naver announced the shutdown in a homepage notice on July 30, 2026, and the shutdown takes effect at 3 PM on September 30. We confirmed the notice date through news reports published that same day. We cross-checked the closing time and migration steps against reports quoting the notice on the Naver TV homepage: ET News, Newspim, Seoul Economic TV, and G-Enews. MCPY did not open the original notice screen directly. So screen names and button labels reflect only the wording in those reports, and we say so where we could not verify something.

Read this first in three lines

  • Schedule: The shutdown is at 3 PM on September 30. Migration requests and downloads remain available after that until September 30, 2027.
  • Migration: Videos, clips, view counts, subscribers, and ad revenue eligibility can move to your Clip profile.
  • Deletion: Videos that you have not moved or downloaded will be deleted afterward. Unpaid revenue can be claimed until September 30, 2031.

The Naver TV shutdown schedule has several deadlines

There is one shutdown date, but several deadlines sit around it. Anyone who wanted to split content across multiple channels had to finish the channel transfer process by September 3. A channel transfer hands ownership of one channel to a different account. That date has already passed, so it does not apply if you are moving a single channel as a whole.

Naver TV shutdown timeline: channel transfer deadline on Sept 3, Clip migration requests open Sept 10, shutdown at 3 PM on Sept 30, migration and download support ends Sept 30, 2027
The Naver TV shutdown schedule runs in four steps, from September 3 to September 30, 2027.
DateWhat happens
September 3New sign-ups and channel creation stop, channel transfer deadline
September 10, 3 PMClip migration request page opens
September 30, 3 PMNaver TV service shuts down
September 30, 2027Migration requests and download support end
September 30, 2031Deadline to claim unpaid revenue

The confusing part is that the day the service ends and the day videos disappear are different. Naver gives one year after the shutdown for migration and downloads. The service ends on September 30, but your chance to move content lasts until September 30, 2027.

What happens to your videos, view counts, and subscribers

When you migrate to Clip, the videos and clips you registered on Naver TV, plus view counts, subscribers, and ad revenue eligibility, move to your Clip profile. Clip is Naver's short-form video service. Ad revenue eligibility here means the channel status that lets you attach ads to videos and share the revenue. The reports do not say under what conditions that eligibility is kept.

Comparison of what moves to Clip after the Naver TV shutdown (videos, view counts, subscribers, ad revenue eligibility) and what ends (uploads, edits, live streams, channel settings)
Videos and performance records move over. Uploads, live streams, and channel settings on Naver TV end.

On the other hand, G-Enews reports that after migration you can no longer upload or edit content on Naver TV, run live broadcasts, or use channel settings. From then on, you manage things on the Clip side. Naver says it is reorganizing its video business around two pillars, Clip and Chzzk. Chzzk is a live streaming service, so the destination for Naver TV videos is Clip, not Chzzk.

Moving to Clip takes 3 steps

You can reach the migration page in two ways. Click the link in the service shutdown email that Naver sent, or follow the guidance in the Naver TV Creator Studio. Creator Studio is the management screen where channel owners upload videos and check stats. Migration requests themselves have been open since September 10.

Three steps to migrate to Clip after the Naver TV shutdown: open the migration page, choose to continue on Clip, confirm the profile transfer
Clip migration is done in order: open the migration page, choose to continue on Clip, then check the result.
  1. Open the migration page. Use whichever is easier, the notice email or Creator Studio.
  2. Choose the option to continue on Clip. Some reports describe this option as "Continue on Clip."
  3. When migration finishes, check on your Clip profile that the video count, view counts, and subscribers match your original channel.

MCPY could not verify how long migration takes after step 2 or what the screens look like. If your channel has many videos, we think it is safer to submit the request early rather than close to the shutdown, and to take a screenshot of the result screen.

What happens if you do not migrate, and what to check in Korea

G-Enews reports that content that is not moved or downloaded will be deleted afterward. The reports do not give a deletion date. However, migration and download support runs until September 30, 2027, so MCPY reads the deletion as happening after that. We will update this article once an official deletion date is confirmed.

Downloading is a different choice from migrating. Moving to a Clip profile carries over view counts and subscribers, but downloading leaves you with only the video files. If you plan to move to another platform or will not use Clip, downloading is the answer. We could not verify the download file format or quality.

Channels that earned revenue should also check settlement separately. You can claim unpaid revenue until September 30, 2031. If you have an unpaid balance, it is a good idea to screenshot the current amount in Creator Studio.

Korean channel operators should watch two things. The first is if you embedded Naver TV videos on your own site or blog. We could not verify whether embed links keep working after the shutdown. If you have many embedded posts, open them yourself after the shutdown to see whether playback works. The second is copyright protection. Naver says it will also support this feature until September 30, 2027.

Common mistakes

  • Thinking videos are deleted on the shutdown date: September 30 is the service end date, and the migration deadline is one year later. Still, the last day may get crowded, so it is better not to wait.
  • Trying to move to Chzzk: The destination for video migration is Clip. Chzzk is a live service.
  • Treating migration and download as the same thing: Migration carries over performance records, and download leaves only the files.
  • Missing the chance to split a channel: Split transfers already closed on September 3.

Your one-line to-do for today

If you plan to keep running your channel, request the Clip migration on the migration page. If not, download your most important videos first.
