Notion AI is a built-in assistant that writes, translates, summarizes files and builds databases inside your Notion workspace. Full features such as Agent and AI Meeting Notes start on the Business plan. According to the Notion Help Center, Free and Plus plans get only a limited number of free AI responses as a trial. The prices shown on the Notion pricing page are 14,000 KRW per member per month for Plus and 30,000 KRW per month for Business (as of October 5, 2026).
Notion AI is free only as a trial: usage by plan
You can try it for free, but it is not meant for ongoing use. The pricing page labels the AI item for Free and Plus as a Notion AI trial. Business adds Agent (chat, generation, autofill, translation), AI Meeting Notes, and enterprise search (one search across your workspace and connected apps).
| Plan | Listed price (per member per month) | Notion AI |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 0 KRW | A limited number of free responses as a trial (Help Center) |
| Plus | 14,000 KRW | Same trial as Free (pricing page) |
| Business | 30,000 KRW | Includes Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes and enterprise search. A usage allowance applies (pricing page) |
| Enterprise | Contact sales | Business features plus zero data retention terms with LLM providers (pricing page) |

Prices are per member per month. The pricing page says you can save up to 20% with annual billing. The Help Center does not give a number for the free responses on Free and Plus.
The deciding factor is whether you keep using Agent and Meeting Notes for work. If you only want to try polishing text or translating a few times, the Free or Plus trial is enough to get a feel for it. If the trial responses run out quickly and you find yourself using AI every week, Business is worth considering.
How to use Notion AI: how to open it and the steps
Open Notion AI with the round icon at the bottom right of the screen or the shortcut Shift+Cmd+J (Shift+Ctrl+J on Windows). The Notion usage guide presents this as the starting point for chat, and the Help Center says you can change the shortcut in settings. Agent (the feature that creates and edits pages for you) can also be opened from the icon at the bottom of the Notion screen (Agent Help Center).
- Open AI while the page you want to work on is open. According to the Agent Help Center, the available actions adapt to the page you are viewing.
- Describe the task specifically. For example, write "Pull only the decisions from these meeting notes and make a checklist."
- Read the result. Check that every item you asked for is included and that the original content is unchanged.
- Point out only the parts that are off and ask again. The usage guide advises asking for revisions after the first draft until you are satisfied.

To match your writing style, mention a style guide page with @ in your request (usage guide). To make Agent work the same way every time, you can personalize it by writing instructions on a private page called 'My Notion AI' (Agent Help Center).
How to translate, summarize files and build databases with Notion AI
Each feature starts in a different place. The paths below come from the Notion usage guide.
| Task | Where to start | Steps |
|---|---|---|
| Translate a page | Notion AI icon > Translate | Choose Translate from the menu and select the target language |
| Summarize PDFs and images | Notion AI chat window | Drag the file into the chat and ask for key points or action items |
| Search Slack and Google Drive | 'All sources' below the chat window | Pick the connected apps to search, then ask your question |
| Build a database | New page > Database > Build with AI | Describe what you need, review the suggested properties and views, accept or edit them, then click Done |
For translation and summaries, you are done once you confirm that numbers and proper nouns match the original in the result page or chat answer. For databases, check that the suggested properties and views are what you want, then click Done.
Agent also has limits. According to the Agent Help Center, you cannot hand off database automations, templates, advanced properties, writing or editing comments, sharing pages or changing permissions, or managing workspace settings. A person has to set these up directly.
Where to check Notion AI usage allowance and credits
The allowance is the base usage that Business and Enterprise get for some AI features. Credits are the usage unit for everything else and for use beyond the allowance. According to the usage Help Center, the allowance applies to personal Notion Agent (including chat), image generation and page translation. AI Meeting Notes, Custom Agents, Workers (custom code execution) and premium models use credits, not the allowance. The Help Center does not give specific allowance numbers.

The allowance is counted in two windows: a 6-hour window and a monthly window. The 6-hour window resets to 0 when it refreshes, so if you hit the limit you can wait a bit and use it again. The monthly window resets when your billing cycle starts. You can see how much you have used in Settings > Notion AI > Usage. Admins also get notifications when usage is near the limit and when it is used up (usage Help Center).
When you go over the allowance, you can keep using AI if a workspace admin lets members use credits. According to the credits Help Center, credits are an add-on only for Business and Enterprise and are shared across the workspace. Monthly credits cost 10 dollars per 1,000 and annual credits cost 13 dollars per 1,000. Monthly credits reset every month and do not roll over, and annual credits expire when the subscription renews. Custom Agents are free to try, then billed at 10 dollars per 1,000 credits (pricing page). Credit prices are shown in dollars, so check the exchange rate and taxes on the checkout screen.
Common mistakes when using Notion AI
- Assuming that paying for Plus unlocks all of Notion AI: On the pricing page, AI on Plus is the same trial as Free. You need Business to keep using Agent and Meeting Notes.
- Believing AI Meeting Notes fit inside the allowance: The usage Help Center states that meeting notes are not covered by the allowance. Check credit usage first in Settings > Notion AI > Usage.
- Leaving sharing settings to Agent: Agent cannot share pages or change permissions, so set the sharing scope yourself after it builds something.
- Using results without reading them: Compare any figures and dates with the original before you use them.
To get started, first check your workspace plan. If you are on Free or Plus, try one translation or file summary with the trial responses. If you are on Business, check the remaining allowance in Settings > Notion AI > Usage, then decide with your admin whether to allow credit use.
