Gemini Plans and Prices: Free, Plus, Pro, Ultra Compared

Gemini has four plans: Free, AI Plus from 7,500 KRW per month, AI Pro at 29,000 KRW per month, and AI Ultra from 119,000 KRW per month. These are Korea prices as of October 1, 2026. The free plan already includes the latest model, so a paid plan does not buy more features. It buys higher usage limits.

Read this first in three lines

  • Price: Free is 0 KRW, Plus starts at 7,500 KRW (it differs by Google page), Pro is 29,000 KRW, and Ultra is 119,000 KRW or 300,000 KRW. All are monthly prices.
  • Difference: Free already gives you Gemini 3.6 Flash and Deep Research. Paid plans change the limits (2x for Plus, 4x for Pro) and storage (400GB or more for Plus, 5TB for Pro).
  • Choice: If you often hit the limit, pick Plus. If you also need storage and Cloud credits, pick Pro. Ultra is for heavy workloads.

Gemini plan prices and benefits by tier

Google sells Gemini app subscriptions in three tiers: Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra. With the free plan, that makes four options. The Korean won prices are below.

PlanMonthly price (Korea)Usage limitStorageNotable benefits
Free0 KRWBase limit15GBGemini 3.6 Flash, some 3.1 Pro, Deep Research, image generation, Gemini Live
AI Plus7,500 KRW to 11,900 KRW (differs by page)2x Free400GB to 2TBVideo generation, 200 Flow credits, sharing with up to 5 family members

AI Ultra119,000 KRW or 300,000 KRW5x or 20x ProFrom 20TBDeep Think, Project Genie, YouTube Premium included, 40 USD per month in Cloud credits

Flow is Google's video and image creation tool. Credits are the usage unit there. The two Ultra prices are two tiers with different limits. 119,000 KRW is 5x Pro, and 300,000 KRW is 20x.

The 29,000 KRW per month for AI Pro comes from the Google One plans page (including 5TB of storage). The LG Uplus guide (April 24, 2026) also lists the list price as 29,000 KRW. LG Uplus is a major Korean mobile carrier. The Free and Ultra prices are the won prices on the Google Gemini subscription page.

The Plus price differs by Google page. The Gemini subscription page says 7,500 KRW per month. The Google One plans page lists AI Plus with 2TB of storage at 11,900 KRW per month. Google's student offer notice (August 20, 2026) lists the list price as 11,000 KRW per month. Which price applies to your account is decided on the checkout screen. Check the price and storage on that screen before you sign up. The same student notice gives the Pro student price as 7,300 KRW per month, a discount of up to 74%.

Free and paid plans differ in limits

Google does not state limits as a number of requests. According to the Gemini Help page, the limit shrinks with prompt complexity, the model and features you use, and chat length. It refreshes every 5 hours, and there is a weekly limit on top of that.

Plus raises this limit to 2x Free, and Pro to 4x. Google says the exact numbers are not published and may change. So you cannot compare plans as "this many more uses per day." Uploading a long document and running Deep Research uses up the limit much faster than a short question.

You can see your own limit in the usage limit section of the Gemini settings menu. Before you upgrade, stay on Free and count how many times the limit notice appears over a few days. That makes the decision easy.

The limit refreshes every 5 hours and is capped by a weekly limit. Paid plans raise it 2x and 4x.

Claude and ChatGPT plans compared on price

These are the personal plans from Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI (ChatGPT (in Korean)), which sell the same kind of AI subscription. The reference date is October 1, 2026, and prices are as shown on each company's official pricing page.

The top tiers are where plans meet in the same dollar units. Google Ultra at 100 USD matches the starting price of Claude Max and ChatGPT Pro at 100 USD. Google's Korea page shows Plus and Pro only in won, so we do not compare them directly with dollar plans. Exchange rates and taxes differ, so simply converting the numbers is easy to get wrong.

Price sources are Claude pricing, ChatGPT pricing, and for Google, the table above and the Google I/O 2026 subscription announcement (May 19, 2026). In that announcement, Ultra at 200 USD was lowered from 250 USD, and 100 USD is new.

Which plan to choose

The safest order is to start free and upgrade only as far as your limit problems require. McPhee's view is that only people who have had work interrupted by limits should move to a paid plan.

Flowchart for choosing a Gemini plan: Free for occasional use, Plus if often blocked, Pro for document work, Ultra for heavy workloads
Choose a plan by how often you use it and how big your tasks are.
  • Free: You ask occasional questions and summarize text. 3.6 Flash and Deep Research are already included.
  • Plus from 7,500 KRW: You use Free and see the limit notice often. If you are a university student, check the student offer below first.
  • Pro at 29,000 KRW: You run long tasks every day, or you need 5TB of storage and 10 USD per month in Cloud credits.
  • Ultra from 119,000 KRW: You need team-scale heavy workloads or Deep Think. It is too much for everyday personal use.

What to check in Korea

Some features are not available in Korea. According to the Google I/O announcement, Gemini Spark, AI Inbox in Gmail, and Daily Brief are US only. Paying for Pro or Ultra does not unlock them.

You can pay less through a mobile carrier route. Through LG Uplus's subscription service Yudok, Pro is 19,800 KRW per month, and the guide dated April 24, 2026 says you can sign up regardless of your carrier. Terms may change, so the price on the sign-up screen is the one that counts.

If you are a university student, check Google's student offer first. If you apply by December 31, 2026, you get AI Plus free for 12 months, and AI Pro at 7,300 KRW per month for up to 4 years. It applies to university students who meet Google's eligibility rules.

The Google Pro annual plan has a 40% discount promotion until October 31, 2026. To see whether monthly or annual billing is cheaper, compare the two prices side by side on the checkout screen. For every price, the final won amount on the checkout screen is the correct one.

Common mistakes

  • Thinking a paid plan gives you a better model. Free also includes 3.6 Flash and some 3.1 Pro. What paid plans mainly sell is limits.
  • Counting limits as a number of requests. Limits shrink with task size, and they apply per 5 hours and per week.
  • Signing up because of a US-only feature. Spark, AI Inbox, and Daily Brief are not available in Korea.
  • Treating app subscriptions and API pricing as the same thing. The app subscription is a flat monthly fee. The developer API is billed separately by token usage.
  • Buying a cheap subscription sold through account sharing. The LG Uplus guide also warns that unofficial sharing carries security risks and goes beyond Google's policy.

Before you pay, check the usage limit screen in Gemini settings and the won amount on the checkout screen once more.
